Are you passionate about music and feminism?
Are you drawn to the weird, the underground, the left-of-centre frequencies?
Do you like moving sliders up and down? Do you think you might like moving sliders up and down but have never tried but would like to?
Do you have a few hours every week or two to fill with music and friends?
Do you live in Montreal, QC?
VENUS RADIO WANTS YOU.
Venus is an award-winning radio show that’s been on the air at CKUT 90.3 FM since 1997.
It’s collectively organized and hosted, and we are currently seeking new volunteer collective members. No experience necessary.
Collective members are responsible for programming and hosting the weekly 2-hour music show that’s on Thursdays from noon to 2. The show’s focus is on women (past, present, and future) in music. Beyond that, it’s up to you. Collective members will become active members of CKUT 90.3 FM, and will be trained in how to host a radio show, from music library orientation to operating the soundboard.
A couple important things about Venus:
– We are queer and trans-positive, and are open to broad definitions of female/feminist music/music by women.
– CKUT is a community station, and as such we play music not heard on commercial radio. We look beyond Miley Cyrus and Sarah McLachlan for sounds and representations you would rarely or never come across in mainstream media.
